Joti born and raised in Portland, Oregon is the first in his family to be born outside of India. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and will be majoring in film at Portland State University in the fall of 2017. Attending Roosevelt High School created many opportunities for Joti to use his passion for film and photography to talk about social issues he saw in his community. His first project #Teens4SocialJustice shined light on the issue feeling racially profiled in stores as a minority teen. His second project “American Nightmare” was a short film he created that consisted of many metaphors and symbols to represent what it felt like to be a minority in America. Joti hopes to one day create projects that reach audiences on a global scale that address issues in the society.
