Miniature raconteur Laura Heit performs some of the smallest puppet shows around. Atop matchbox stages, her uncanny micro-plays come to life with fire, hand-cranked action, and pop-up paper engineering. Heit is a filmmaker, performer, and puppeteer whose work has been seen at REDCAT, Los Angeles; MoMA, New York; Great Small Works Toy Theater Festival at St. Ann’s Warehouse, Brooklyn; the Jim Henson International Festival of Puppetry; and Puppetropolis, Chicago; as well as on PBS and at international film festivals. She was co-director of the Experimental Animation program at Cal Arts until 2011.
