Rennie Harris has won many awards for choreography, including the Pew Fellowship in the Arts (1996), The Pew Charitable Trust’s Repertory Development Initiative Grant (PRDI), The Susan Hess Choreographer’s Project residency fellowship, City Paper‘s Critic’s Award for “Most Exciting Dancer/Choreographer” (1993) and People’s Choice (1994), and a Philadelphia Dance Projects Choreographic Commission (1996) made possible by the Multi Arts Production Fund of the Rockefeller Foundation. Rennie Harris PureMovement has received rave reviews for its performances locally in the Philadelphia Dance Projects, at The Painted Bride Art Center, Movement Theater International’s Dance Kaleidoscope, and City Dances, and nationally as a featured company in Chuck Davis’ Dance Africa and the Spoleto Festival. His company, Rennie Harris PureMovement, has received support from the City of Philadelphia Cultural Fund and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
