A brief exploration into motion capture and shapes of sound. As an introduction, participants will watch and listen to a selection of short animations and audio clips, many from the 1930s and 40s, including by Max Fleischer and Oskar Fishchinger. From there, we’ll move into a hands-on drawing and listening workshop, adapting several early animation techniques used to transfer movement, sound, and maybe spirit, from the observed world into cartoons.

Presented as part of Anna Craycroft’s C’mon Language project and the TBA:13 Festival. For more details on weekly events, visiting artists and scholars, and other related events, please visit the C’mon Language event page below.
