PICA’s signature public engagement program Field Guide continues to cross disciplines and explore new thematic territory facilitated by leading local and visiting artists and scholars. This small-group session creates context around contemporary performance and Keith Hennessy’s social, political, cultural, and aesthetic influences through a pre-show workshop with lecture and lively discussion; group viewing of Bear/Skin; and post-show conversation over light refreshments. For this session join Lisa Jarrett, Artist and DePriest Visiting Professor of Art & Ethnic Studies at Portland State University, in exploring artist Keith Hennessy’s practice and his work Bear/Skin.

Pre-Show Workshop: 6:00 PM at New Expressive Works Studio 1

Keith Hennessy Performance: 8:00 PM at New Expressive Works Studio 2

Post-Show Conversation: 9:00 PM at New Expressive Works Studio 1

About Field Guide

PICA’s education and public engagement series, Field Guide helps audiences discover and feel more informed about contemporary performance. Through facilitated workshops with visiting and local faculty, focused explorations of artist’s work, and connection with other festival-goers, Field Guide sessions include various combinations of pre-show workshops, social outings to performances, post-show conversations, and online interviews and media to more deeply contextualize the art and artists of our time.

PICA’s Field Guide program is generously supported by a Community Grant from the Oregon Community Foundation.
