Portland Institute for Contemporary Art presents francis alÿs: le temps du sommeil* and dog rose, aug. 27 – oct. 4, 1998 at the philip feldman gallery, pacific northwest college of art (1241 nw johnson).
Francis Alÿs is one of the most important young artists working in Mexico today. known internationally for his collaborations with sign painters, or rótulistas, and for his “performance walks,” he has also created a large body of work that includes sculpture, drawing, photography, video, and installation. PICA is pleased to present le temps du sommiel in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Gallery of Vancouver, BC. PICA will also present a selection of works from the series dog rose.
