Performance artist and pop musician Khaela Maricich (who performs as The Blow) and installation and conceptual artist Melissa Dyne present a lecture about their current collaboration, which is a music-based performance piece being presented in a diversity of contexts–from rock clubs to museums–exploring the possibilities and assumptions inherent in each setting. They will demonstrate, among other things, their experience brushing against the invisible boundary lines of convention, the strangeness of the creation of a pop icon, and the intricacies of the collaborative process. Maricich and Dyne will be performing in Portland at Doug Fir on Feb 2, 2011.
