Working at the junction of dance, film, music and experimental theater, Dayna Hanson makes movies that bring the undercurrents of human interactions to light. Included in this program of dance films, experimental shorts and kinesthetic music videos are Hanson’s first film with dance company 33 Fainting Spells, Measure, and her latest short, Improvement Club. A moody meditation on rhythm and relations, Measure was the first dance film to be shown at the New York Film Festival. Improvement Club, shot by Benjamin Kasulke and featuring music by Fleet Foxes, offers a glimpse at a new suite of work that ties Hanson’s rock musical, Gloria’s Cause, to a feature film tracing the fictional creation of that piece.
