I was born and raised in Sana'a, Yemen; it's a country right below Saudi Arabia. While living with my parents and my little brother in my childhood, the neighborhood was lively and full of friends and neighbors. Unfortunately, many of them died because of the civil wars in Yemen and the Youth Revolution in 2011, especially the devastating civil war since 2015. I moved to the states in 2012 during the Arab Spring. Saw many of my closest friends killed in front of me before I left. I consider myself one of the lucky ones able to escape war before it was too late for my family and me. I graduated with a Bachelor of Art and Technology and now a Master's (MFA) degree at PNCA in Visual Studies 2020. The mediums I use are painting, textile, sculpture, video art, sound, programming for art, and video games. I am interested in challenging myself and in trying things that I haven't done before. I try to bring awareness to Yemen's issues and help unpack my Trauma layers in my art. Yemen, a third-world country with backward traditions with no fundamental human rights, has caused many people mental anguish. PTSD keeps me in chains, but within my process, I break one ring at a time from the strings of my Trauma.

My name is Mohammed Murshed, a Yemeni American Visual Artist that investigates colonialism, imperialism, sexism, and racism; I also incorporate/highlight the microaggressions and racism I experience as an immigrant. I try to capture my memories in Yemen. The didactic of war showed us that war doesn't discriminate. Often affected by conflict are women and children—sharing knowledge about Yemen and the humanitarian crisis with integrity. Using different mediums encouraged me to push my experience to a different level without being labeled a political activist. I use art as a tool to visualize my Trauma by creating art in various mediums to heal my PTSD from the mental wounds that I inherited due to war in Yemen.
